With an hour before the show’s start time and models still arriving from shows all over town, the atmosphere backstage was frantic. As makeup artists and manicurists dodging in between stylists, our team crimped and pinned in a frenzy. Re-creating  the complex look on each model was a challenge but Team Le Salon East, worked with the differing types of hair and face shapes to create a streamlined look.

The chosen design was part French twist, part beehive, and completely in step with the tribal-yet-futuristic feel of Jose Duran’s collection. Called in a few days before Fashion Week began, the editorial team from Le Salon East had a short period of time to view the 44 looks and create one style that would not only compliment but enhance the designs.

Accordingly, Le Salon East will be closed at 5:30 today, but we will be back  in full swing tomorrow!

For all of you who’ve called about our recent deal at Lifebooker Loot, a quick guide to gloss and glaze. Please not that the service comes with either gloss OR  glaze – it is not possible to apply both since they are variations on the same treatment.

GLOSS is a clear conditioning treatment, best for uncolored. It is applied after the initial wash and adds a lustrous shine to strands, giving your au naturale look some oomph.

GLAZE is a similar treatment but carries a tint. If you have single-process color or highlights, glaze is a great way to even out tone or give color a boost. Our glazes can also be used as a demi-permanent color, meaning they can cover greys completely but will wash out after a few weeks.

If you didn’t grab the Loot before it sold out, these services are still a great way to provide quick repair to damaged summer strands.

You may have noticed that your Brazilian Keratin appointments actually take less than the 90 minutes described in the article. That’s because we have upgraded our flat-irons to brand-new titanium technology, specially designed to lock in the keratin treatment. These irons allow us to apply the treatment to short hair in about 60 minutes and medium-length hair in about 90 minutes. Talk about instant!

Our general policy is as follows: In order to provide the most ideal atmosphere possible, we ask that our clients be courteous to each other and the salon staff. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is disruptive to other clients’ salon experience. As such, adhering to scheduled appointments helps us make your experience at Le Salon East as flawless as possible. If you do need to cancel or reschedule, as much advance notice as possible is greatly appreciated so we may better serve other clients. Excessive lateness may result in a cancellation of your appointment, so it’s always best to call us at 212-888-2828.

What you can expect from your treatment:

Full-price cut services do include a full blow-dry and style. All full-price highlight services include a rough finishing blow-dry, and do not include gloss. A full blow-dry with style or gloss can be booked with your color appointment for $25.00 each.

As colorists, we sometimes need to apply a toner in order to enhance warm colors or counteract brassiness. Often previously colored hair will not lift to the desired tone, in which case added toner will restore balance and help achieve the specific color you desire. This service is provided at the discretion of your colorist and is an additional $40.00

As for gratuities, determining the appropriate amount can lead to tricky waters. While a gratuity is customary for good service, the amount is always left to the discretion of our clients. However, it is customary to calculate gratuity based on the full price of service, before any deals or discounts have been applied. The best way to show your appreciation is to calculate an amount which corresponds to your stylist’s level of training. At this time, gratuities cannot be charged to your credit card.
